Fun Things To Do On The Weekend With Friends

Volunteer

Volunteer for a good cause.

Places are always looking for volunteers.

Book Club

Start a book club and you can get together once a month to discuss it.

I do this with my sisters and it is a great way to make sure we connect often, even though we live a little farther apart.

If you have any recommendations, let me know. We are always looking for great books.

Potluck Dinner

If there are quite a few of you, plan a potluck dinner.

You can do a theme like all game day food, appetizers, or BBQ.

Offer to host, you may end up with lots of yummy leftovers.

Yard Games

If it is nice out, get the grill going and set up yard games.

Corn Hole

Ladder Toss

Axe Throwing

Kubb

Have a Bonfire

Plan those yard games for the late afternoon/evening and add in a bonfire. Everyone loves them and will be relaxed hanging out by it.

Movie Night

Stock up on microwave popcorn, candy, and cookies - you know all the treats to watch a movie.

If the weather is decent, host an outdoor movie. Check out this projector and screen combo.

You can sit around that bonfire I just mentioned.

What is your favorite kind of movie? Let me know in the comments below.

Out to Eat

Whether you are grabbing coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, I mean, the possibilities are endless here and you know a girl’s got to eat!

This is simple and a classic ladies get together idea.

Have a Picnic

Want to get more creative about eating? Go on a picnic together.

Cooking Class

Create a meal together or book a cooking class.  You may discover a few new favorites.

Cookie Exchange

Bake treats and cookies at home, enough that you can share ½ a dozen to a dozen with each friend.  Make sure you tell everyone what you are making so you don’t double up.

It saves you from having to spend so much time in the kitchen.

You can make extras and share them with the elderly members of your neighborhood.

Wine Tasting

Instead of going to a winery, bring the wine to your home.  Grab some whites, reds, and blushes, and have a tasting party.

This charcuterie board is dynamite for putting your snacks on.

Food Crawl

I have recently heard about a food crawl and I am intrigued.

It goes something like this, in case you don’t know.  You make drinks at your house, then you go to the next house and have appetizers, then to the next house and have the main course, and finally then next house and have dessert.

A few of my friends have done it and had a great time.  They did say it takes a long time, though so plan accordingly.

Fondue Party

Whether it is cheese, chocolate, or both, have a fondue party. Yum!

Game Night

Get together for an evening filled with games.  These go best with snacks and appetizers!

These games are great for a crowd.

Ticket to Ride

Pictionary

Scattergories

Catch Phrase

Trivial Pursuit

Cards

Favorite Things

Have a gathering of favorite things.  It could be drinks, food, games, or even a few movies.

Seasonal Activities

Seasonal activities are so fun.

What are your favorite seasonal activities?  Let me know in the comments below.

Here are a few ideas.

  • Get plants and flowers at the Greenhouse
  • Head to the Beach
  • Visit an Apple Orchard, Pumpkin Patch, Halloween Haunted Maze
  • Bake Christmas Treats, Go to a Christmas Craft Show

Farmers' Market

Explore and support your local farmers' market.

Road Trip

Plan a road trip with your gals. Think something under 3 hours away.

Town Celebrations

Towns have festivals all the time. There is something for everyone at festivals.

Visit a Museum

Discover a new museum; there are big and small ones everywhere.  You may even learn something new.

Theater

Whether it is the movie theater or the stage, go see a show.

I love seeing live plays and my favorite by far has been Singing in the Rain.  They made it rain on the stage.  So memorable and incredible.

Jewelry Making

Whether you want to try making new bracelets, earrings, necklaces, or even rosaries, jewelry making will be a lot of fun.

Scrapbooking

Get together for some scrapbooking.  It is a great way to share materials and ideas.

Sewing

Or maybe sewing is more your thing.  There is so much to learn when it comes to sewing and it is more fun to chat while you are working on something.

A great project is making blankets. You could work on blankets to donate to local churches or a nearby children’s hospital.

Paint

Paint a new picture or piece of pottery for your home.

I love going with my daughter to get new holiday pieces.

Explore a Botanical Garden

Discover a beautiful botanical garden in your area. You may learn about new plants and flowers.

Garden Together

Get down and dirty in the garden. Growing your own food is very rewarding.

Visit an Aquarium

Visit an aquarium or zoo. It is so relaxing to do with your friends.

Spa Day

Get your pampering on with at the very least – your nails!

Beach Day

Soak up the sun with a day at the beach.

Golfing

Hit the links.

Don't have enough time for a round of golf? That's ok. Go for mini golf.

Geocaching

Looking for a low cost way to go on a treasure hunt? Try geocaching.

Go Kayaking

Get on the water and enjoy nature from a whole different point of view.

Bonus – you will be getting a good workout in.

Rock Climbing

Look up the nearest indoor rock climbing wall. It is a full-body workout and a great way to cheer each other on.

Ice Skating

There is a college nearby that has an open ice skating time.

It only costs a few bucks to rent the skates and you get some exercise in.

Laser Tag

Laser tag is not just for preteen and teen boys.

Get out there, girl.

These laser tag guns are so great.

Multiple sets sync up with each other (we know 1st hand).

Paintball

Paintball is a fun way to get some exercise in while making a mess.

Camping

Do you prefer camping or glamping? It doesn’t matter.

You will have a blast doing it.

Escape Room

If you haven’t done an Escape Room yet, you have to put it on your list.

My son has done it with his friends and says it is a blast.

Karaoke

Singing karaoke is so much fun.

You can get this karaoke machine if you don’t feel like hitting the town.

Murder Mystery Party

We have done a murder mystery party a few times now, for bachelorette parties and even Christmas, and everyone joined in to play their part.

If you are going to do this one, set up a photo booth area.  Don’t miss out on everyone in their costumes.

Dancing

Take dancing lessons. Yes, there are dance classes for adults.

Exercise

Go for a walk, bike ride, or even an exercise class with your friends.

Are there good areas to hike near you?

Our favorite is hot yoga.  Whew, that 92°F makes you sweat but it feels so good.

Horseback Riding

Check out a stable near you and go on a horseback ride.

Archery

My daughter and I did an archery class once and loved it.  We learned something new and got to grab a bite to eat after.

Comedy Show

Go to a comedy show together for a few good laughs.

Concert

Is there a concert you have been wanting to go to?

If you have never been to an orchestra, I highly recommend it.

Sporting Event

Or maybe sports or more your thing.

I have been to both pro games and semi-pro, and I have to say, I love the semi-pro ones more.

They just seem to have more fun with it and it is cheaper!

Casino

Ok, the casino is not my thing but I will go when my friends ask.  Some of them love it.

Bingo

Bingo can get pretty wild, especially when there is a lot of money in the pot.

I love playing bingo at home with my kids.  We play for treats😊.

Scavenger Hunt

Make up a list of items to search for, split up into teams or stick together, and get to hunting.

This is a blast with teams and even more fun when you tell everyone that they have to have photo proof.

Holidays are a fun time to do a scavenger hunt, too.

Explore Caves

I did not realize how common caves are until my husband pointed it out to me.

We have taken our kids in them and I am always amazed at what we learn and see.

Bowling

Bowling, food, drinks, and laughs.  Oh, so many laughs!  My friends and I always have a blast with this.

Shopping

Whether you are shopping or antiquing (yes there is a difference) it is better with friends!

Which activities are you going to try first? Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments below.

I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for stopping by.
