Best Halloween Party Activities For Kids
Hey girl!
These activities are great for kids of all ages and can be used anywhere from school to daycare to home Halloween parties. I hope you have a great time with them!
Let me know in the comments below what you plan to do for Halloween this year.
Happy Halloween
1. Bounce House
If your party is outside, then this is the number 1 activity that you have to have, a bounce house.
All of the kids will want to be in it the entire time your party is going on.
We tried this a few years ago and it worked out so well that a bounce house is a must for all our parties!
You can rent one or buy your own.
We always chip in money and rent one.
2. Halloween Treat Bags
As kiddos start arriving at your party you can give them something to do like decorating their own treat bag.
It makes for a great icebreaker.
They will need a place to keep candy or party favors they may get at your party.
I feel like it just wouldn’t be Halloween without some candy.
3. Halloween Pinata
You may want to be sure you have all the materials you need for it though, like string and a stick (if that isn’t included).
We made that mistake once and were fumbling around trying to find everything when the pinata time came around.
Also, think of how many kids you are going to have at your party. You may need 2 pinatas.
Don’t forget the candy. You may as well get the kind you like; you know you are going to have some of it.
4. Decorating Pumpkins
There are many ways you can choose to decorate pumpkins.
My favorite way is to use stickers.
These foam stickers stay on for a really long time like you have to peel them off.
You can also have the kids carve them, and you guys I found these pumpkin cookie cutters that are safer for kids than the carving knives.
They are basically strong cookie cutters that the kids will have to tap in with a small mallet or hammer.
The other option that we run to is using these paint pens.
If you choose to go this route, do pumpkin decorating at the beginning so they are dry by the time your party is over.
5. Halloween Face Paint
Even if the kiddos at your party have costumes on, they can still get their faces painted.
This face paint surprised me so much with how good it is and how easy it is to use.
It also washed off for us with water and a small bit of soap.
You can look on Pinterest for some amazing face painting ideas as I do!
6. Halloween Scavenger Hunt
Put together a scavenger hunt for your kiddos to go on.
All kids love a challenge and this is something that will have them running all over the place.
MORE TO ENJOY
7. Halloween Snack Mix
This is a fun one but it takes a little preplanning.
On the invite, ask the kids to bring a small bag/box of their favorite treat or snack.
For example, they could bring mini Oreos, chocolate chips, goldfish crackers, pretzels, and mini marshmallows. You get the idea.
Then during the party (probably near the beginning or snack time), bring out a big bowl and one by one have each kiddo pour their treat into it.
Make up a Halloween-like name for each item added to make it more fun!
You can mix it up, to save on the arguing, and they have just created their own snack to have at the party.
8. Halloween Stickers
Set up a sticker station and see what kind of Halloween sticker creations the kids can come up with.
These are the best ones to get the biggest bang for your buck.
9. Halloween Pumpkin Crafts
Kids have a blast getting creative with foam stickers.
My kids and daycare kids can get enough of these! I get them for multiple holidays.
The kids will be able to design their pumpkin, ghost, or witch hat and then take it home to hang up.
10. Halloween Ornaments
If your party kiddos are just a bit older, and by that, I mean handle paint decently, set out these Halloween ornaments to work on.
This kit comes with 25 blank, wooden, Halloween ornaments and the stuff to decorate them.
I will have to say, if you have any paintbrushes lying around, you may want to put them out with this activity.
This kit only comes with 2 paint brushes.
11. Halloween Color Books
Kids who are young and old will have a relaxing time coloring a page or 2 in these Halloween color books.
Set out some Crayola crayons or Crayola markers with it and they will get used.
Best of all guys, this is a cheap activity!
12. Sack Race
Sack races are a classic, and a bit harder than it looks (for me anyway). The kids will line up to try it!
I found these festive sacks and they are big enough that the adults at your party can give them a whirl as well.
13. Halloween Bingo
Yes, please! I have yet to find a kiddo that doesn’t like Bingo.
There are enough game boards here for 24 people to play, so tell those adults not to be shy and join in.
14. Ring Toss
The kids are going to have a great time trying to master the Halloween ring toss.
What I like best about this game is that most of it is inflatable which to me means it will be compact for storage!
It comes with a pump so you don’t have to feel like you are going to pass out from blowing everything up.
15. Pin the Spider on the Web
A Halloween twist on the classic Pin the tail on the Donkey game – Pin the Spider on the Web.
Give those older kids an extra spin to make it more challenging!
16. Pumpkin Toss
See who can score the highest with this pumpkin toss game.
Once you make it a competition, some of the kids won’t want to do anything else.
17. Egg and Spoon Race
This egg and spoon race game is a great way to slow those kiddos down for a hot minute and still have a blast.
Oh, the concentration of this game is tough!
18. Halloween Maze
Depending on how much room and materials you have, create a maze for the kiddos.
There are so many different materials you can use for it: hay bales, corn stalks, streamers, wood, tumble mats, and so forth.
My son said if you want it to be the best you have to use hay bales or corn stalks.
19. Hay Ride
If you have access to a wagon or trailer, this activity is so fun! The kids will love it even if you just go around the block.
My friends who have some land, created a Halloween blow-up trail ride and my kids couldn't get enough.
It did require them to buy some extra Halloween blow-ups but after hearing how much the kids loved it, they said it was totally worth it!
20. Photo Booth
I completely think having a photo booth is an activity for the kids and they are going to have a blast with it.
And I know you want to take pictures of all the kids in their costumes anyway.
Last year we painted up these huge cutouts from the movie It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and everyone was going nuts over it.
If you don’t feel that creative, you can easily make a photo booth area out of foil curtains and festive balloons.
21. Halloween Dance Party
I have been to plenty of school events where lots of kids are and any time there is music those kids are dancing. This is true when I play music for my kids and daycare kids too.
So, play some music and let them get their groove on.
I love this speaker. We have an older version and this thing is a rockstar.
This party light adds so much to the dance party and it is cheap. You may even want to get 2!
If you want to do a dance party, try to put together a playlist ahead of time or at least have some age-appropriate songs in mind.
22. Halloween Kids Movie
Playing a Halloween movie toward the end of your party is a great way for the kids to wind down.
You can’t go wrong with this classic: It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown! It is our favorite Halloween movie!
If you are having an outdoor party, then you have to consider a using a movie projector and outdoor screen.
So much fun for the kids!
Let me know in the comments below what your favorite Halloween movie is!
Charlie Brown is on top but I will never pass up Hocus Pocus!
