Activities to Include in Every June Themes For Preschool
First off, I am so proud of all the hard work you are doing with your kiddos. It is such a tough job, one that you don’t get enough credit for. Keep up all of your fantastic work.
I made these June themes to work for young daycare kiddos but I know they will work in your preschool classroom as well.
If you are looking for someone to bounce ideas off, leave me a comment below.
Reading
Fill your preschool classroom (or daycare) with books. I know this will take time but it is great to give your kids lots of book options. What works for 1 kiddo may not work for the next.
Also, set up a few different comfy areas for your kids to read. A few options include a reading corner with pillows and stuffed animals and small reading chairs.
Lastly, take time each day you are together to read at least 1 book. Don’t forget to do lots of voices to make the story as interesting as possible. This will teach your kids how much fun and important it is to take time to read.
Songs
I don’t know how it is for your kids but every time music is on here, my kids find the beat and get their groove on.
The best part about preschool songs is that the kids don’t even realize they are learning because they are having so much fun.
Get out there and bust a move yourself, heaven knows we all could use more movement in our life.
If you are not playing music through a speaker or sound system, invest in a Bluetooth speaker.
I have an older version of this speaker and it is dynamite!
The sound quality is so much better than your phone.
I have a few YouTube channels that are my favorites when it comes to kids’ music. Of course, there are so many other ones that are amazing as well.
Coloring
Wow, coloring, you help with so many things. I am sure you are well aware of all the benefits of coloring but let’s run through some of them anyway.
Better Hand Strength
Fine Motor Skills
Builds Creativity
Focus and Patience
Builds Pencil Grip
I usually turn to Google Images and Pinterest when it comes to finding printable coloring pages to match my themes.
If you are finding your coloring supplies are a bit on the low side, stock up on some great Crayola supplies.
You guys, while being a daycare provider for 9 years I tried various coloring supply brands and always went back to Crayola. They are just the best.
No, they did not sponsor me (but they sure could send me some products if they wanted to).
Now I know, I KNOW, paint is messy but don’t forget about it. Kids have the best time with paint.

Artwork
Ok, who else is not creative enough to come up with artwork ideas on their own? Don’t be shy, show those hands!
That is me all over the place. But I am great at following directions or looking at kid art and figuring out how it was made.
So, zip on over to Pinterest because there are a crazy number of ideas to choose from.
Try to include art projects where your kiddos need to use scissors and glue, along with coloring. They need to work on those skills too.
In my experience, my kids went bananas the most over headband or mask projects.
Outside Fun
Hello, summer and sunshine. Get your kiddos outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Don’t forget the sunscreen.
There are so many ways that you can bring your June theme outside so your kids can continue to learn.
Try sidewalk chalk to work on writing, and go for walks to find numbers, letters, shapes, and so on.

(The Singing Walrus)
(Have Fun Teaching)
Play Outside at the Beach Song
(CoComelon)
(The Kiboomers)
Coloring
Help your kiddos draw a big sun with a smile. If they want, show them how to add sunglasses to it.
Artwork
Oh wow, there are so many summer art projects on Pinterest – watermelon, ice cream cones, popsicles, and footprint flip-flop art.
No matter which one you pick, I know your kiddos are going to love trying it.
Our favorite was the footprint flip-flop art. What can I say, kids love putting their hands and feet in paint when they can.
Outside
Take your preschool kids outside as much as possible to enjoy as much summer as you can. Just don’t forget the sunscreen!
Letters
Songs
(Rock N Learn)
(English Tree TV)
Are you sleeping monster alphabets?
(ZooZoo Song)
(Jack Hartmann – He has a song for every letter)
(Have Fun Teaching)
Coloring
Print huge bubble letters from Google Images.
Check out these dot markers. They are so much fun for preschool kids to use to fill in the letters.
Artwork
I would head on over to Pinterest if I were you and look up “handprint ABCs.”
Kids love putting their hands in paint. You may as well turn it into some art.
Outside
Tell your kids to grab a piece of sidewalk chalk. You call out a letter and see if they can make it.
Your kiddos can also practice writing their name.
I love this sidewalk chalk. Yep, I have a favorite!
Father's Day
Songs
(The Learning Station)
(Jack Hartmann)
(The Kiboomers)
(The Kiboomers)
(The Kiboomers)
Coloring
Let your kiddos draw a picture of their dad or grandpa and they can give them on Father’s Day.
Artwork
Make a short book for Father’s Day.
Use a large sheet of paper, I am talking like 11x16 and fold it in half. This will make the cover of the book.
On an 8x11 paper, have your kids make a picture or write Dad on the cover.
Print off an “All About Dad” survey from Google Images and then go through the survey individually with your students. Some of the answers kids give are hilarious!
Glue the survey on the inside.
Outside
Ok, this one is tough! Since Father’s Day is on a Sunday, you can’t do too much at preschool.
You can talk to your kids about the fun and exciting ways they can spend time outside with their dad on Father’s Day.
Numbers
Songs
5 Little Speckled Frogs (My favorite children’s song)
(Super Simple Songs)
(Super Simple Songs)
5 Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed
(Little BoBo Nursery Rhymes)
(Super Simple Songs)
12345 Once I Caught a Fish Alive
(Little Baby Bum!)
Coloring
Draw or print large numbers. Let your preschool kiddos trace them with stickers.
I like these small stickers for this project the best.
Artwork
I love this art project and you can use it with more than just the number theme.
Draw numbers on a white piece of paper using a white crayon. Next, have your students use watercolor paint to find all the numbers.
The numbers will “magically” appear and your kids will be amazed.
Outside
Numbers are everywhere outside. Show your preschoolers where they can look to find them. Have them check mailboxes, houses, road signs, cars, and more.
Mountain Habitat
Songs
(The Learning Station)
(The Laurie Berkner Band)
The Bear Went Over The Mountain
(Super Simple Songs)
She'll Be Coming Around The Mountain
(Rock N Learn)
(Harry Kindergarten Music)
Coloring
Print colorable mountain pictures from Google Images.
Artwork
Have your kids cut out triangles from construction paper and glue on onto another blank piece of paper.
Your kids can then glue on small cotton balls or mini marshmallows to make snow on top.
Outside
If you are near a sandbox, help your kiddos build sand mountains. Once you are done, let the kids smash them all down.
Shapes
Songs
(Jack Hartmann)
(Pinkfong)
(Pinkfong)
(The Kiboomers)
(Kids TV)
Coloring
Bust out that messy paint I was talking about earlier and this bucket of shapes. Your kiddos will have so much fun using these shapes as stamps.
Don’t worry, this paint is very washable and usually comes off with warm soapy water.
Artwork
Make a shape creation such as a shape house or shape monster.
You will have to cut out shapes beforehand, you can even let your kids help.
Have your kids glue the different shapes on a blank piece of paper and see what they can come up with.
If you are going for something specific like a shape monster, make an example so they know what you are talking about.
Outside
Help your kids realize that they can spot shapes everywhere outside. Ask them, who can tell me where a circle is, how about a rectangle?
Do this game until you run out of shapes or they want to run off and play.
Birds
Songs
(Super Simple Songs)
(The Kiboomers)
(Cocomelon)
(The Kiboomers)
(Cocomelon)
Coloring
There are so many cute bird coloring pages on Google Images. My favorites are tropical bird pictures.
Artwork
Last year I helped my youngest make a handprint bird. It turned out so cute!
Your kiddos only need to add an eye, a beak, and some feet to make the bird complete.
Outside
Take your kids outside and see how many kinds of birds they can see.
Also, have your kids take a listen to find out how many different bird songs they can hear.
Colors
Songs
(Jack Hartmann)
(Super Simple Songs)
(The Learning Station)

(The Singing Walrus)
Coloring
Print some summer printable color sheets from Google Images and ask your kids to color them using as many DIFFERENT colors as possible.
Artwork
Help your kids create rainbows, beach balls, flower gardens, and anything else that uses multiple colors. Soon your classroom will be exploding with colors.
Outside
I love June! There is color everywhere you look outside.
Play the game Eye Spy with your preschoolers and see how many different colors they can find.
