Hey girl, today let’s chat about everything you need to include to make the best baby gift baskets.
I love babies, I have 4 kids myself, and I love putting together the best baby gift baskets possible for my sisters and friends.
The best baby gift baskets can include a combination of the items below but I always make sure to add gifts for new moms. She is going through this marathon after all, and with no training. So, she needs some kind of reward.
If you want to make this newborn gift basket epic, try to have a few of your friends go in on this with you. Whatever you decide, don’t skip out on the last item on this list!
Let’s get into what you all need to create the best baby gift baskets for your mama-to-be.

Best Baby Gift Baskets
1. Diaper Caddy
First thing first, let’s talk about a basket. And what I mean by that is a diaper caddy basket. Mama is going to use this way more than a regular basket.
And have you ever heard – go big or go home? Get the large basket!
It seems to shrink when stuff gets put inside.
2. Diaper Bag
This diaper bag is another fantastic gift option, if you don’t want to do a basket. And, honestly, the mom will love this even more than the baby basket!
I was a daycare provider for 9 years and had 2 different diaper bags myself. This is the diaper bag that your Mama needs to have.
3. Diapers
And since we are talking all about diapers, add a small package to this baby gift basket. I would only go for a small package because, whew girl, diapers can get expensive.
Girl, I have changed a lot of diapers in my life and Huggies diapers are simply the best!
4. Wipes
Just like with diapers, Huggies fragrance-free wipes are also the best.
Being a daycare provider, I have had experience with many different brands of wipes and you get the most for your money with these!
5. Portable Diaper Changing Pad
It may not be right away but Mama is going to be out and about with her new baby and she will need a portable diaper changing pad.
This one is compact but still has space to carry everything your mama will need to change a diaper on the go, including her phone and keys.
6. Diaper Rash Cream
If you want to stick with this diaper theme, don’t forget the diaper rash cream.
Unfortunately, all babies need it at some point.
7. Baby Book
I loved capturing all the milestones my kids made when they were babies and your Mama will too.
I love the black and gold colors together!
8. Soft Books
It is never too early to introduce a baby to books and these 2 soft books are my favorites!
The baby can chew on these books and Mama will not have to worry one bit about it. They are machine washable!
9. Rattles
Babies love rattles and 10 rattles come in this set but let's be honest, what baby needs 10 rattles?
I have split this set of rattles up to put in multiple baby gifts a few times now.
10. Hatch Sound Machine
I am nuts about having a sound machine when it comes to helping a baby sleep because they work.
The Hatch Rest Sound Machine is amazing and is the one your Mama is going to want the most.
11. Swaddle Blanket
Every newborn should sleep in a swaddle blanket.
That little bambino has been wrapped up snug and tight inside Mama for a long time now so it will be a comfort to sleep in it.
These will help your Mama get some longer sleep too – sleep when the baby sleeps and all.
12. Baby Blanket
Every baby needs some receiving blankets and these are so good.
However, if you want to go with a blanket that will be used for years, you have to grab this one.
My 8-year-old son has a similar one and he still sleeps with it.
13. Stuffed Animal
This brand of stuffed animals is so great for newborns.
It has soft eyes, it is plush all over, the perfect size for a little one to snuggle, and best of all it is machine washable. There are so many different animals to choose from too.
I have given it multiple times now and they quickly become so loved.
14. Bibs
When it comes to bibs, the ones with the snap closure are the only ones to get. They hold up better to the constant washing.
These bandana ones are perfect for this new baby to wear every day to help with drooling. And these Carter’s bibs are awesome for mealtime.
15. Burp Cloths
Oo-da-lolly, babies need burb cloths. Mama is going to love the design of these.
Since they have a curve in them, they stay in place so much better and they are quite absorbent.
16. Pacifier
Toss in a few pacifiers if you think your baby gift basket needs a little something extra.
In my experience, Nuk pacifiers and Philips Avent pacifiers are the ones that babies want to use the most.
Mama will thank you for how easy these clean up as well.
17. Bottles
Being a daycare provider, I know a thing or 2 about bottle brands, and girl, these 2 are the ones that babies went nuts for – Nuk Bottles and Tommee Tippee Bottles.
Add a bottle brush, or a few since they are supposed to be replaced often, and a bottle drying rack (that is dishwasher safe), and you have just put together a Feeding Starter baby basket for Mama.
18. Baby Soap
Let's move on to bath time essentials.
I used this Head-to-Toe Tear Free Wash and Shampoo on all my babies and it is pure magic.
Make sure you get Mama the bottle that comes with a pump. She is only going to have one free hand and the pump is a lifesaver!
19. Baby Bathrobe
And when this new little babe is all done with bath time, Mama can wrap her up to be cute as a button in this baby bathrobe. There are over 50 animals to choose from, so good luck 😊.
I know that a baby bathrobe is not necessary but my gosh, they are so cute and so hard to pass up.
20. Baby Lotion
Pair the baby wash with this Aveeno baby lotion to help keep that baby’s skin soft and hydrated.
We used this lotion with all 4 of our babies and loved it so much that we have since graduated to regular fragrance-free Aveeno lotion.
21. Baby Nail Kit
A baby nail kit is essential and may not be something that Mama has on her list. Baby nails grow surprisingly fast!
The owl case it comes in is just the cutest!
22. Thermometer
Unfortunately, Mama is going to need a thermometer at some point with her new baby☹.
I went through multiple different thermometers before landing on this one and I am so glad I found it!
It is a no-touch, point-and-scan thermometer so Mama doesn’t have to struggle to get take the temperature.
23. Gifts For Mom to Be
Of all the things on this list, this is the one that you can’t forget!
I am serious, girl.
Everyone else will be getting gifts for just the new baby but I can tell you from personal experience that your Mama just wants someone to remember her!
My go-to gift for new Mamas is a Water Bottle or a Yeti Tumbler. These both can do hot and cold liquids, which she is going to need plenty of!
I have both of them, in these colors, and only use water for the water bottle and coffee in my mug. These colors are not the most exciting, I know, but I like that they are classic.
I think it may be the only thing I am bougie about.
This post was all about the best baby gift baskets.
