Best Board Games For 7-Year-Olds
Hey there! Playing board games with family and friends is a huge activity for me and has been since I was a kid. I love all the memories of it.
But we all have that one person we have played with that is super intense or a board game experience that we can't forget.
Give me your favorite board game story in the comments below.
Mine is down there too.
Enjoy spending time playing games with your kiddo and building memories that will last a lifetime.

1. Trouble
If you get any game from this list, it should be Trouble.
This game gets played the most at our house by everyone! I know it is my favorite on this list.
2. Battleship
Boys and girls will enjoy playing the classic Battleship.
We like to play it best on a lazy afternoon since it is not as intense as Trouble can be.
3. Guess in 10
Your kiddo will be able to play Guess in 10 at home with you or on the go.
There are multiple versions to choose from.
So far, we have Animal Planet Mega Pack, Underwater Animals, and Professions.
4. Ticket to Ride
This game is amazing!
We have the original Ticket to Ride and I would argue that this is the one you should get as well instead of the junior version. It makes it a game she can play forever.
We are interested in checking out the Ticket to Ride Rails and Sails as well.
Let me know in the comments below if you have it!
5. Connect 4
Your kiddo will have to pay close attention while playing Connect 4. Or maybe it is you that will have to pay attention.
My 9-year-old is so good at this game that he beats me most of the time. And you guys, I am usually really good at games like this.
There are some different versions of this game that I want to check out: Connect 4 Spin and Connect 4 Shots.
Have you played them?
6. Chess
Learning to play Chess will teach your kiddo strategy and attention to detail.
Now, guys, I am not very good at Chess, yet anyway.
But my kids wanted to learn so we got this book to help us out.
I think it is so fun that we are learning how to play this game together.
7. Checkers
Kids and adults have a great time playing checkers. Did you know that there are multiple ways to play though? I didn’t until just a few years ago.
Anyway, we have these 2 checkers boards and both are holding up so great to multiple rounds of play.
I love the bigger board. It always makes me feel like I am on vacation in a big cozy cabin for some reason.
8. The Game of Life
Your kiddo will love playing The Game of Life over and over again since no 2 games will be the same.
I remember spending hours upon hours playing this game with my sisters growing up. So much fun!
9. Twister
Have fun getting all tangled up by playing Twister.
If you have a bunch of people that always want to play, then you have to check out this Twister which has 2 times as many spots on the mat.
10. Operation
I am sure the buzzer will go off so many times when your kiddo starts playing Operation.
But with determination and practice, he will be able to get those crazy pieces out in no time at all.
I was at a children’s museum that had a huge Operation game and my kids went nuts over it.
11. Jumanji
My 9-year-old got Jumangi when he was 7 and we have played it many times since. I just know your kiddo is going to have the best time playing it too!
How many of the Jumanji movies have you seen?
Let me know in the comments below. I have seen all 3 of them and I am a huge fan.
12. Mouse Trap
Whether she just wants to set up the chain reaction or play the actual game, Mouse Trap is such a hit.
I have to talk my kids into playing the game after we set it up. They love to see if the mice get captured.

13. Kerplunk
This game will have your kiddo holding his breath the whole game, hoping he doesn’t get all the marbles.
Yes, I am so old (37) that I had the original Kerplunk and it is still awesome.
14. Uno
While technically not a board game, Uno is such an amazing game to play with your kiddo that I couldn’t NOT include it.
You can get the original cards, the Super Mario cards (like we have), or other great options.
15. Sorry
16. Sequence
Playing Sequence will keep your kiddo paying close attention.
To be honest, we only try to make 1 Sequence with my 7-year-old and then ask if he wants to keep going.
Sometimes getting 1 takes so long that he gets bored.
17. Hangman
If you are looking for a board game that you can take on the go, look no further than this magnetic Hangman.
It is so fun that your kiddo won’t even realize that she is practicing her spelling.
We take it in the car often.
18. Rush Hour
This is a great challenge and I know your kiddo is up for it.
Rush Hour comes with 40 cards that range from beginner to expert and thankfully give you the answers on the back of each card.
If he masters those 40 cards, there are other decks you can get.
Guys, some of those expert cards are hard. I have not dominated them all yet.
19. Gravity Maze
I haven’t met a kiddo yet that doesn’t want to win a maze.
Gravity Maze is so amazing because she will get to make a 3D maze and then test it out.
20. Rubik's Race
If your kiddo loves racing, Rubik’s Race is the perfect game for him!
Holy cow, this is the fastest race I have ever played!
21. 13 Dead End Drive
Have you heard of 13 Dead End Drive?
It is a blast from the 1990’s past for sure and is so fun.
My kids can’t get enough.
22. Scrabble
I am not going to lie, in my experience Scrabble can either be a giant hit or a huge miss for kids.
But as my kids have gotten older, they have asked to play this game with me more.
It is a great game to work on spelling and math!
23. Mancala
The absolute definition of a “board game” ha! Mancala is an easy game that can help your kiddo figure out strategies.
We love playing Mancala the most with a snack and a cup of cocoa.
24. Yahtzee
Not necessarily a board game but an awesome game for sure.
Let’s be real here, how many times have you ever gotten a Yahtzee? I think I have only gotten 1!
25. Simon
Your kiddo is going to love the challenge of playing Simon.
It is a pattern memory match game and it can get hard!
Worth your money.
26. Monopoly Junior
I know this will be shocking, but I have never been the biggest fan of playing Monopoly until I was introduced to Monopoly Junior that is!
It is way faster to play. And even though it only comes with 4 tokens, we always add a few more since there are 6 of us.
I think it is a great way to start counting money.
Other Great Board Games
This is where I need your help! We don’t have these games but they have pretty great reviews on Amazon.
I do home daycare so I always want to add in a new game or toy here and there to keep things fresh and interesting.

Amanda says
My favorite board game experience was at Christmas. I can’t remember the game, but I do remember that my aunt had to act out that she was a bug caught in a bug zapper. She was laughing so hard while trying to act this out that everyone was laughing. The image of her finally getting caught in the bug zapper is so etched in my memory that I think about it every Christmas. So much love, joy, and pure fun at that moment.
