Christmas Angel Cookies
Hey girl, I am so glad you stopped by to chat about making these melt in your mouth Christmas Angel Cookies.
Good luck trying to have just one. Mmmm, they are so good.

A few years ago, my sweet elderly neighbor gifted us a tin of various Christmas cookies that she had made, and Christmas Angel Cookies were one of them.
After just one bite, yep, it only took one, we knew we had to have the recipe.
She was happy to share and told me her Christmas Angel Cookies recipe had been handed down to her from her mother-in-law. Sometimes you can’t beat those old fashioned treat recipes!
The secret to making Christmas Angel Cookies into the most delicious morsels is to shape them by hand. Don’t even try to skip that step!
Christmas Angel Cookies are the best addition to any Christmas Cookie platter.
However, I make them year-round for baby showers, as Easter cookies, for graduations and they are even requested for birthdays.
I don’t want to keep you any longer. Let’s get in the kitchen and whip up a batch (or 2) of Christmas Angel Cookies!

Before we get into the recipe, I want to share a few helpful kitchen supplies that will make whipping up Christmas Angel Cookies a breeze.
I have multiple of the storage containers and use them all the time!
Christmas Angel Cookies
Ingredients
- ¾ Cup White Sugar, divided
- ½ Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 Cup Butter, softened
- ½ tsp Vanilla
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Cream of Tartar
- ½ tsp Salt
- 2 Cups Flour
- Sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Cream butter until light and fluffy.
- Add ½ cup of white sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla. Mix well.
- Next, add baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
- Finally, add flour and mix well.
- Using the cookie scoop, scoop out dough into your hand. Roll the dough into a ball, and add a slight amount of pressure. You are making the magic happen right here!
- Next, roll the dough ball in white sugar and place it on a cookie sheet.
Note: Put the ¼ cup of white sugar into a bowl or on a small plate. You can either keep it as a ball or use something like a drinking glass (flat) bottom to gently smash it into a cookie shape about ¼ inch thick (this is what we like to do).
- Bake the cookies for 10 – 12 minutes.
Helpful Tips
- You need to add your sprinkles before you put your cookies in the oven. We like to gently smash them and then place the sprinkles on top. You can also add the sprinkles to the dough as the final mixing step.
- This is important!!! Let the cookies cool on the pan for 8 minutes (set a timer) and then move to cooling racks until they are completely cool.
- You will end up with about 65 scrumptious Angel Cookies.
- Store the cookies in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
