Best Daycare Themes
Hey there, daycare Mama! I see you working your butt off and kudos to you. Keep up the great work.
Let me help you out a little bit by doing some of your work for you – yep, I am here to set up your daycare themes for an entire year.
You know that your daycare kiddos are little sponges and so you should help them learn as much as they can every day.
It will help your days not be so monotonous either. You know how easy it is to get stuck in a rut for anything you do. Ugh, I know I sure do!
I am not saying that your whole day should be learning. What fun is that? Just set aside a time, like maybe after breakfast, to have “Theme Time”.
Your kids are going to have a blast, and who knows, you might learn a few things too.
Let me know in the comments below if you would like to see how to set up your daycare themes for every day of the week.
More Daycare Ideas
Daycare Themes - Who are they for?
These daycare themes are set up for kids who are in kindergarten and younger. Yep, even those young toddlers will pick up on the learning.
They work with items that this age group should know by the time they get into 1st grade plus some fun extras.
Now that doesn’t mean that your older daycare kids won’t enjoy them, so make sure you include them in this time.
Your older kiddos would probably be more than happy to help you set everything up too. So get them involved.
Daycare Themes - Topics to Include
This is a list of daycare themes that you should consider including.
I include them all. And I love doing them all with the kids but my favorites are holidays and seasons.
Of course, you can take any of these topics and run with them if your kiddos are incredibly interested in one of them.
You can pick and choose the ones that work best for your daycare.

Daycare Activities
I find it best to do 1 to 2 themes a week. For example, you can pick a letter and a season together.
I usually do 1 theme a week.
To go along with every weekly topic, you should include these fun activities. Your kids are going to benefit from it so much more.
1. Reading
There are so many books that you can find at your local library to go around with each of these topics.
I love using the public library since you don’t have to pay for it.
And I don’t know what your public library is like, but I think I can check out like 100 books at one time. I have never done that, but I am picking up so many books to go with my weekly daycare themes all the time.
2. Songs
Holy moly, there are a ton of children's songs out there these days so why not use them?
I find almost all of my songs on YouTube.
Have the kids get up and get some movement while they listen to these songs.
These are my favorite channels for kids. They include more than just songs for kids.
3. Coloring
Coloring pictures helps hand strength which is exactly what young kiddos need to start to become great writers.
I find so many coloring sheets on Google images and Pinterest. Use those resources, mama!
4. Artwork
Um, have you ever looked on Pinterest for artwork ideas for this age group? The options go on and on. That is where I find most of my ideas.
I try to include projects that have the kiddos cutting or gluing something since those skills are also important.
5. Outside Fun
With every topic, try to take it outside.
You know the fresh air is great for everyone, including you mama!
Try to take a walk to the end of the block and have the kids search for the topic you are learning about if possible, such as a letter, number, or shape hunt.
You can also have them use sidewalk chalk to create a picture of your topic.
Monthly Themes
Now that we have discussed some possible topics, I want to let you know how I would set these daycare themes month by month.
Please remember that this is just an example. You choose what is best for you.
There are so many ideas on this list that you could have your daycare themes set up for 2 years if you wanted to.
Or you can choose to do 2 themes a week. If that is the case, you go girl!
