1. Treats
If you are anything like me, you think it is fine for your son to have treats just not a massive amount of them.
I always pick the mixed bag of Easter chocolate treats that I love the best, so I can “share” with him.
It is a good idea to put some of his favorite snack in his basket too.
2. Books
There are so many great books for 8 year old boys and reading is so important. Add a few to his basket.
These are favorites at our house.
3. Joke Book
If your son is anything like my boys, he loves to be silly and laugh. Include a joke book or 2 in his basket and he will be giggling with every joke he tells.
4. Flarp Noise Putty
I went back and forth about putting Flarp noise putty on this list but boys think bodily functions are so hilarious that I had to include it.
My daughter has giggled plenty over this as well.
5. Flashlight
You will be surprised how much a flashlight can come in handy for an 8 year old boy.
My kids use their flashlights so often and for a variety of uses.
6. Water Bottle
Help him graduate from his “little kid” water bottle to something that is a little more his speed.
We have had the best luck with these Hydro Flask water bottles.
7. Pop It
Kids can't get enough of a pop it when one is by them.
I even find myself playing with these things when my kids leave them around my house.
8. Remote Control Car
I have to say, a remote control car/vehicle is one of the coolest gifts a boy can get.
He may even let you have a turn if you are lucky.
9. Pokémon Cards
These cards are fairly inexpensive and they are small, which makes them great Easter basket fillers. If you want to take it to the next level, include this binder and Pokémon book too.
My 8 year old is a super fan of Pokémon and can’t get enough of it. Good thing his brothers are fans as well so they can trade duplicate cards with each other.
10. Bey Blades
The Bey Blade toy is a recent addition for all 3 of my boys and already they are a giant hit. Each Bey Blade is small enough to be the perfect size for his Easter basket.
But if we are being honest here, skip the buying the separate Bey stadiums. A bit overpriced for what you get, if you ask me.
11. Army Men
Not all boys like army men toys, but if your 8 year old is like my 8 year old then these are right up his alley.
And they don’t cost an arm and a leg.
12. Foam Dart Guns
Both Nerf and X Shot Foam Dart Guns pack quite the punch and are an absolute blast.
You may want to include some safety glasses in his Easter basket though. Protect those beautiful eyes of his, mama!
13. Laser Tag
Laser tag is so much fun and you can play with this set even if you don’t want to wear the vests. There are sensors in the guns.
I love laser tag so much better than foam dart guns just for the fact that there are no foam darts to chase and find.
My 8 year old hasn’t had these long enough to play outside in the dark yet but he is itching to try that out as soon as the snow melts.
14. Legos
Go for a classic set of Legos instead of a kit and watch his imagination run wild.
I have watched my boys and their friends play with Legos for hours and hours so I know your son is going to love them too.
15. Board Games
Board games are a fabulous way to spend time with your 8 year old boy. It always amazes me how much more he opens up to me when we are playing board games.
These are the best board games for 8 year old boys right now.
16 Spy Kit
A spy kit, found on Lakeshore Learning, is perfect for those boys who like to figure things out.
My 8 year old has told me time and again that when he grows up he wants to be a spy, so he got this spy kit for Christmas. And my 10 and 6 year old boys are crazy intrigued by it as well.
17. Science Magic Kit
How does your son feel about science experiments? What about magic tricks?
If he has any interest whatsoever, then you have to check out this science magic kit for him. It is so amazing.
18. Walkie Talkies
Boys have the best time running around with these walkie talkies. I know they are for grown-ups but trust me on this one, they are worth your money.
Don’t buy the cheap kid ones like I did, only to have to buy this nice set after that.
19. Binoculars
A set of decent binoculars can open up a brand new world of wildlife for him.
There is no need to go super expensive with these though. Not when he is only 8.
20. Sports Balls
Get him outside for some fresh air, exercise, and fun with a sports ball. And you want to know what, he is going to use it a ton more if you do it with him.
We love these sports balls and they have been put through the wringer so far!
21. Fishing Gear
Help stock up his tackle box with a new fishing lure or 2. If fishing is a thing in your family, your son is going to love it.
We fish for Northern Pike and Bass around here, so here are a few lures that will work for those.

22. Sunglasses
With longer days ahead and hopefully more sunshine in store, new sunglasses should be on your list.
And more than likely, your boy has grown and probably needs some bigger sunglasses. Look in the men’s sunglasses section for a new set.
23. Character T-Shirt
Does your son love character t-shirts as much as mine do? And you know he grew, again!
Add in a new shirt or 2. My boys’ favorites are Super Mario and Pokémon.
24. Hat
Grab a new hat to go with his favorite sports team. Or, if he is into hunting, go for a camo hat.
All of my kids somehow have multiple hats and they all get worn. Even my daughter doesn’t shy away from wearing her favorite blazed orange hat during the summer.
25. Watch
If your son doesn’t have a watch yet, you should get him one.
It doesn’t have to be super fancy either. He is going to love knowing what time it is, all the time!
This post was all about the best Easter basket ideas for 8 year old boy.
How do you celebrate Easter? What are your traditions?
We love having a basket hunt followed by an egg hunt. And since my kids are getting older, we love adding a gift or 2 to all our kids' baskets.
I look forward to hearing from you and thanks for stopping by.
