Best Halloween Birthday Party Ideas
Halloween Birthday Party Themes
Halloween is such a fun birthday party theme since it has so many spooktacular decorations.
However, if you want to get more specific, here are a few dynamite options you have to see.
Haunted House – You can get spooky with music, cobwebs, fog machines, dim lights, and things to make the kids jump.
Glow In The Dark – Set out a bunch of glow in the dark necklaces, bracelets, rings, and more. Put on the blacklights. Ask your guests to wear glow in the dark costumes.
Pirates – You can’t go wrong with the pirate theme. It is a Halloween classic costume.
Willy Wonka – How fun to decorate your place as a chocolate factory!
Monster Mash- Play spooky dance party music and have a costume contest.
Superhero – Ask your guests to come dressed as their favorite superhero. Mine would have to be Wonder Woman. Who is your favorite?
Carnival – Include lots of fun Halloween activities at your party. Good news, I have included a bunch below. Halloween treats make great prizes.
Halloween Birthday Party Invites

The best time to have a Halloween birthday party is 1 to 2 weeks before Halloween.
Everyone usually has their costumes (hello, costume party) and isn’t incredibly busy with trick-or-treating and other Halloween parties.
Send our your spooktacular Halloween birthday party invites 3 to 4 weeks before your party. People are busy these days!
Halloween Photo Booth

You NEED to have a photo booth area.
Girl, you don’t want to miss this opportunity to take pictures of everyone in their costumes.
A few years ago, we made these Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin cutouts for our photo booth area. Our guests were bananas over them.
If you aren’t feeling that crafty, these foil curtains, balloons, and Halloween lights will do the trick.

Halloween Decorations
You can keep the Halloween party decorations simple and budget-friendly. My favorite way to go.
These decorations are fantastic since they cover a lot of space!
If you are looking for a few more decorations, check out these Halloween decorations too. They are still budget-friendly!
Halloween Activities
These are the best Halloween activities for kids. You may choose to only do a few and that’s fine but keep a few in reserve because the kids might fly through some faster than you think.
You don't want them to be asking "Now what" for over an hour.
Keeping the kids moving will keep them out of trouble!
Decorate a Prize Bag
Keep those kids busy at arrival time by having them decorate a Halloween prize bag.
Set out Halloween prize bags, Halloween stickers, and Crayola washable markers, and let them get creative.
Decorate Pumpkins

Since it is a Halloween birthday party, have decorating a pumpkin as one of your must have activities.
Pick up small to medium pumpkins from your favorite local farmer.
Have the kiddos decorate the pumpkins with stickers (so you don’t have to sit and finish everyone’s pumpkins).
These stickers are the ones you need. They stay on so well even if they get a little dew on them.
Your kiddos can also paint the pumpkins with these paint pens. They take hardly any time to dry.
Face Painting

Kids always line up to get their faces painted.
Ask your favorite adult artist to be a face painter for your party.
I have used this face paint so many times and it is amazing.
It washes off with soap and water, except the red. Use a little makeup remover for that and it comes right off.
Halloween Tattoos
These Halloween temporary tattoos are a blast for kids. They are so festive and they glow in the dark.
Ask a parent or friend to help put these on the kiddos.
Costume Contest
Since it is a Halloween birthday party, I can only assume the kids will be wearing their costumes. Have a costume contest!
You can have prizes for the most creative, funniest, and even scariest.
Bouncy House
I cannot recommend having a bounce house enough. The kids will be in it for most of your party!
You can buy one like this, or rent one like we usually do!
This is well worth the money!
Halloween Bingo
The kids will love playing Halloween bingo, especially if there are prizes.
Piñata

Kids love piñatas, need I say more?!
Depending on how many kids will be at your party, you may need 2 of them.
Balloon Prize Pop
Blow up orange balloons and tape them to the wall in the shape of a giant pumpkin. You can use a few black balloons to turn it into a jack-o-lantern if you like.
Before blowing up each balloon, add a slip of paper with the numbers 1, 2, or 3 on it. These numbers match the numbers on the prize bins.
Have the kiddos pop a balloon either with a pin or their body, and whichever number was inside the balloon, that is the number of the prize bin they get to pick from.
Mummy Wrap
Buy some cheap toilet paper for this fun mummy wrap game.
Have teams of 3 – 4 members. Tell them to pick a member to become the mummy.
Then, teams wrap the mummy in toilet paper as quickly as possible or set a time limit.
Cup Punch
We just did this cup punch game at a party and it was such a hit.
If you feel like you have the time, you can easily make one with a cardboard box or 2, festive Halloween tissue paper, plastic cups, and treats to fill the cups.
Scavenger Hunt
Do you go crazy about putting up decorations, like I do? Then, a scavenger hunt is a perfect activity for the kids to do.
You can learn how to easily put a Halloween scavenger hunt together right here.

Do you feel like you need a few more options to keep your kids entertained? Check out these fun Halloween party games.
These mostly work for kids 10 and under but my daughter and her friends always join in and they are 12 and 13.

Girl, do NOT forget these essential party supplies.
