Activities to Include With Every March Themes For Toddlers
No toddler wants to practice learning by only working on toddler-level worksheets.
They will eventually get bored, and I don't blame them. Learning should be fun, at every age!
Instead, you should incorporate these activities every day or throughout each week to keep learning interesting!
Reading
There are a billion and 1 books out there for kids, just a guess but it sure seems like it, and reading is so important no matter how old you are. Use that to help you teach your kiddos about the concepts you are teaching.
I will include some of our favorite examples below with each theme I tell you about.
However, do not feel like you have to buy all of these. Ok, maybe just buy your kids’ favorites to create a small library.
Visit your local public library. It is free to borrow all these books!
They are amazing and if your library is like mine, you will be able to check out 100 books at a time. Whew, you better bring your wheelbarrow along for all those!
Songs
Have you ever watched a toddler when music is playing? It does matter what the song is, they usually find the beat and get on the move.
Since kids love music, songs are a perfect way to help them learn about your theme of the week.
And do you know what the best part of it is? It is so fun for them that they don’t even realize they are learning.
Don’t be afraid to get in there to sing and dance with them!
If you want to amp up your music time, then grab this Bluetooth speaker.
Your kids are going to go bananas over it!
Here are a few amazing YouTube channels that you should check out for the best toddler songs. This is where I would find most of the songs we listened to.
Coloring
All of your kids need to build hand strength and fine motor skills. Coloring helps with both of these.
There are so many free printable coloring sheets to match your March theme waiting for you on Google Images and Pinterest.
Stock up on coloring utensils for your kiddos. Remember, anything "washable" helps with clean-up time.
We love using these the most.

Artwork
Turns out, I am not that creative when it comes to original artwork for kids. And that is where I let Pinterest help me out.
There are a ton of wonderful ideas to try on there and kids love them.
The best art projects to help build toddler skills are ones where they have to color, cut, glue, and more.
Any time my kids were able to make a mask or paint turned out to be “the best art project ever”!
Outside Fun
If the weather cooperates with you, take your learning outside. You need fresh air, and we all know the kids need fresh air too!
They can use sidewalk chalk to work on numbers, letters, shapes, and more.
Take them on a scavenger hunt up and down the block. Point out items that go along with your weekly theme and then see if they can point some out to you.
For example, what shapes do they see on houses, street signs, and cars passing by?
You will be amazed at how much they notice that you never would.
