Help start your toddlers’ love for reading while they are young by including books and reading with everything you do. And it is so easy!
Build a library with all of your/their favorite books (over time) to give them lots of options.
Then head on over to the public library to add in new variety every so often. Free books!!!
Refreshing the library books about every 2 weeks works pretty well. There is always a book or 2 that my kids want to renew.

Have you ever watched your toddlers when music comes on? They love moving to the beat.
So, of course, you have to include learning songs in your lesson plans.
Music also helps wear them out. Man, I wish I had that much energy!
Songs are so much fun for them that they don’t even know they are learning.

Help your toddlers work on their fine motor skills and gain hand strength by writing and coloring.
I get my best coloring pages from Google Images and Pinterest. There are so many options on just these 2 sites that I don’t go anywhere else.
If you are looking to stock up on your coloring supplies, because I know how toddlers can fly through them, then you have to check out these from Crayola.
There are so many other brands that I have tried and felt like I just wasted my money because they did not have quality products.
So, I stick with the Crayola brand. I have never been disappointed.

Guys, I am just not that creative in coming up with fresh artwork on my own. But I am amazing at following directions or looking at an art project on figuring out how it was done.
Therefore, I head on over to Pinterest because there are about a bazillion ideas there.
Toddlers need to work on lots of different skills, so try to pick projects that include using scissors and glue too.
My kids' favorite art projects were a mask or a headband that they could wear when it was all done.
Outside Fun
Finally, finally nicer weather.
We live where all 4 seasons happen, along with crazy winter temperature swings. Today we woke up to -25°F but tomorrow it is supposed to be 33°F. Yes, that is a 58°F temperature swing. May is a welcome sight!
Or maybe you live in a mild climate and have no idea what I am talking about. Either way, May is usually nice.
Get those toddlers outside! They need fresh air, and you know you need it too.
Just because you are outside doesn’t mean the learning has to stop. Use sidewalk chalk to practice writing. Go for walks and look for letters, numbers, shapes, and more. They are all around us.

Shape stamp painting is so fun for toddlers.
Let your kids dip the shapes in that washable paint and stamp in on a piece of paper.

Building shape houses or monsters is a blast.
You do have to cut out a bunch of shapes ahead of time but it doesn’t take that long.
Give your toddlers blank paper, help them draw just the outline of the house or monster, and then let them create the rest by gluing shapes on.
If you have a few extra minutes in your prep work, make an example so they know what you are talking about.

I had never realized how many shapes are outside until my oldest had to go on a shape hunt when she was in kindergarten. They are everywhere.

Pinterest has so many ideas for this.

Have your toddlers use sidewalk chalk to practice letters or even their names.
Then let them go wild and make whatever picture they want.
